| | | It’s not just the right thing to do – it’s good business. Learn about Seattle Envelope Company’s leadership in green practices. | We pride ourselves on:
 | FORESTRY STEWARDSHIP COUNCIL (FSC) Seattle Envelope Company is now FSC Certified. We believe that sustainable practices are critical for our business and for our clients' businesses as well. We work hard to minimize the environmental impact of our products and manufacturing processes and constantly seek ways to increase our efficient use of resources.
One of the most significant environmental impacts in our industry is the production and use of paper. Seattle Envelope Company is committed to the responsible use of this renewable resource and participates in the FSC Chain of Custody Certification program. | | | | MANAGED FOR SUSTAINABILITY Seeking ways to reduce waste on our production floor is a good place to start, but to have a global impact, we realized we needed to do more by earning an FSC Chain of Custody Certification. FSC is a nonprofit entity that promotes environmentally appropriate, socially beneficial and economically viable management of the world’s forests.
By working with FSC, Seattle Envelope Company can assure customers that the paper we use has been produced as a sustainable resource from raw wood to the printed piece. Only products that have been subjected to FSC’s Chain of Custody Certification process throughout every step of production can carry the FSC label. | | | ENVIROSTAR FIVE STAR RATING EnviroStars is a program that certifies businesses for their efforts in preventing pollution and reducing hazardous waste. Certified EnviroStar businesses are given a two-to-five star rating based on their commitment to reducing hazardous waste. The higher the star rating, the more proactive the business has been in protecting the environment.
| | | | RENEWABLE ENERGY USE Seattle Envelope Company is participating with two innovative organizations to ensure that we are taking responsibility for our environmental impact and helping to create a more sustainable future. Through our partnerships with Seattle City Light Green Up and Renewable Choice Energy, we are offsetting 100% of our electricity with renewable energy to reduce our overall carbon footprint. | | | | | SEATTLE ENVELOPE COMPANY’S "PLEASE RECYCLE" PROGRAM In conjunction with the Direct Marketing Association, the Magazine Publishers of America, and the Envelope Manufacturers Association, Seattle Envelope Company has launched a “Please Recycle” Program to inform consumers that envelopes, along with magazines, catalogues, and newspapers are recyclable. Most of us recycle our newspapers, but many people don’t know that they can also recycle envelopes, catalogues, magazines, direct mail, and packaging. Because only about 30 percent of this “mixed paper” is recycled annually in the United States, Seattle Envelope Company hopes to stimulate recycling activity through this campaign and improve the overall recycling/recovery rate for the paper-based communications industry.
